I think it’s safe to say that animals will never seize to amaze us. Recently some huge mammals have been making news across the country and world. Yesterday they released a story and pictures of a giant 40 ton whale jumping out of the water right on to a sail boat. You will have to see and read this story to believe it, follow the link below.

This story reminded me of another “Whale Story” I recently heard about. It was that of a female paddle boarder who was boarding from Catalina Island to the coastline of California. She was doing the 40 mile trek to raise money for charity. Her accomplishing this task would have been news and a record alone. But Jodie (the paddle boarder) was joined by a 30 foot whale for over two hours of her journey. The pictures and story are remarkable.

It’s so rare and exciting to see these amazing creatures in their own habitat and outside of amusement parks. Maybe it’s time to try something new, maybe a whale watching trip with the family? Check out the link for whale watching activities across California.

There really is nothing like the companionship between a person and their pet. Growing up my family always had pets. We had dogs, cats, fish and at one point we even had a rabbit. We had all the normal family pets everyone else had. But I guess what is considered normal, is all very relative now isn’t it
Especially now when pet owners are getting more creative and apparently bored with the standard family pets like dogs, cats and birds.
Exotic pet shops are popping up every where, offering quite an array of animals you would have never originally considered. I recently met a couple who had just received their newest family addition. His name was Carnitas, and he was a tea cup pot belly pig. Carnitas was very cute and very TINY! After talking to his mom and dad I learned that he is a newer breed of small pigs. He will live to be about 15-20 years old and he wont grow to be more than 15lbs. For a pig, that’s unheard of.
Meeting this little family really made me see how fun and exciting having an exotic pet could be.
Check out these links and see for yourself what kind of exotic animals are available to you
